The museum building, dedicated to the oeuvre of Appenzell artists Carl August Liner and his son, Carl Walter Liner, belongs to the category of the monographic museum.
The underlying project concept is for the immediate context, the landscaped gardens of Villa Grünenberg, to become the significant characteristic of the new housing development.
The articulation of the building mass into three volumes takes place within the context of the small-scale, “fine-grained” housing structure in the neighbourhood near and far. In contrast to the solitary houses and villas on the Zurichberg, the building volumes react to each other by means of their proportions and with respect to their openings.
Two lightly bent, elongated volumes of different heights restructure Buchegg Park. The six-storey building on Hofwiesenstrasse is oriented towards the park as well as to the street.
