ALEF Office Building. To avoid demolition and the transportation of the remains, ART Arquitectos worked in the renovation of a functionalist building in the Cuauhtémoc district in Mexico City.

The building complex is conceived in sub elements, each element rationally positioned and connected to one another with three generating ideas: culture, cultivation and domesticity.
Considering the climatic aspects that rule at Cuernavaca city, Morelos we proposed a geometric scheme of ludic character following contemporary forms that integrate a congruent composition with the climatic aspects ruling the place where our idea will be created.
Cuernavaca and its context have permitted REC to generate an architectural field of incomparable experimentation, where principal elements have tried to work with local identity and present technology.
Space conceived as a showroom for art on its actual manifestations where is proposed a ludic and nostalgic strategy of a gallery designed with golden proportions, where artist and visitors take over modifying the existing morphology and opening up a spectacle veil whose main objective should always be the appreciation of an art piece.
The university of Morelos is located within a special region in Cuernavaca in regard of altitude, vegetation and topography, which summed up to its programmatic requirements, resulted in a design strategy focused on the idea of a “village” or rational settlement.
This project is in a privileged topographic situation, due to its visual condition of greater height in relation to the surrounding neighbors. This allows the house to enjoy excellent vistas towards the National Park of Chipinque in the south.

The house was constructed on a lot of 15 x 32 m with two upper floors and a basement. On the ground floor there is a double height entrance hall that leads on to the living and dining rooms, kitchen and breakfast area.
