Famously known as the CNN Center in downtown Atlanta for more than 30 years, the iconic 1.2 million-square-foot landmark is undergoing a historic transformation as its owner, national commercial real estate developer and operator CP Group, unveils the reimagined property for the first time.
CP Group originally revealed plans to open the development, now named The Center, to the public for leasing for the first time 40 years last April, and has stunning new visuals and a sizzle reel to showcase the repositioned commercial beacon. Here’s your first look at The Center.
The Center is currently working with architecture and interior design firm TVS, general contractor Holder Construction, and Core Twelve for the branding of the redevelopment.
The mixed-use development, directly connected to the State Farm Arena and in close proximity to Mercedes-Benz Stadium, is planned to become a hub of world-class retail, dining, content creation, and entertainment. CP Group has also already secured a confidential high-end restaurant tenant for nearly 10,000 square feet of space.
CP Group is also partnering with Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) and local creative and cultural advocates Neda Abghari and Bem Joiner to curate exceptional statement artworks that will help establish The Center’s identity and sense of place in Atlanta’s vibrant downtown landscape. Additional details will be announced later this year, but projects underway include a large-scale interactive digital sculpture where the iconic CNN letters once sat, a variety of custom murals, and additional installations within The Center’s atrium.
For over three decades, this Atlanta landmark has played host to thousands of pop culture moments — including being the backdrop of Amun-Ra’s introduction to Wu-Tang Clan and itself making cameos in hit films and TV shows such as The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and The Walking Dead. The Center remains at the forefront of a hotbed entertainment market within a major U.S. cultural hub.
